Yoga, Beach + Mayan Rituals in Mexico
w/ Emilie (Amstutz) Reid + Karen DeTemple
Jan 26 - Feb 1, 2020
at Casa OM, Puerto Morelos, Mexico
Escape the winter with Emilie and Karen for a week of yoga, beach and poolside lounging, and Mayan rituals in the beautiful Mayan Riviera of Mexico. Experience personal transformation and growth during this 7 day, 6 night experience in paradise. Wake up in the sunshine of Mayan Riviera, feed your body and mind with juicy fresh fruit and delicious vegetarian meals before meditating and unfurling your mat to practice next to the ocean. Get ready to deepen your practice and rejuvenate your soul.
This is the perfect opportunity to deepen your practice and build a sense of community, with two daily classes. Each day begins with a sunrise meditation on the beach or in the Casa Om studio, followed by the first yoga class of the day. After breakfast, the day is yours; explore the quaint town on the Mayan Riviera, have a cocktail on the beach, or take a dip in the pool. The sun sets on another day in paradise with an evening yoga session followed by meditation. No yoga or meditation experience necessary. All levels welcome.
The Location: Casa OM
Just steps from a pristine beach, you’ll enjoy all of the amenities of an upscale hotel but in our own private Casa. Rejuvenate in the salty waters of the Atlantic, soak up the sunshine (in January!) by the pool, fuel your body with rooftop vegetarian meals, shop for trinkets, grab a drink and explore a quaint town on the Mayan Riviera. Relax, laugh and recharge with an intimate group of fellow yogis, or read a book in the Mexican sun. This time is for you to deepen your practice, reconnect, realign and inspire yourself to take your practice and your life to another level.
In addition to hang-out time at the Casa, we'll connect with the beauty of nature in Mexico. We will embark on a catamaran ride and snorkel on the second largest coral reef in the world. You’ll discover the breathtaking natural beauty of swimming in a cenote (pronounced say-no-tay), freshwater swimming holes made of natural carved rock formations located just inland from the ocean. We'll also experience Mexican culture during a visit to a traditional ritual of a Mayan temazcal (pronounced tay-mas-kal), a super-cleansing ritual that will help usher in a new sense of yourself and connection to your life.

When should I get there?

What should I bring?
Pack like you're going on a beach vacation--sunscreen, bathing suit, sun hat, sunglasses, water bottle, comfy clothes to move and lounge in, and your favorite journal or book. Yoga props, towels and linens are provided at Casa Om. The mosquitoes only come out for half an hour around sunset but bring some repellent in case.
What are the accommodations like?
Casa Om has 10 beautiful bedrooms, a spacious and well-equipped yoga room, swimming pool, and a kitchen. Bedrooms are double occupancy, and have either a private bathroom or a bathroom shared between two rooms. The rooms at Casa Om are comfortable and beautifully designed with air conditioning and fans. You'll have access to drinking water, yoga mats, towels, and beach towels.
Shared accommodation rooms have 2 beds to each room. If you are traveling with someone, please let us know so that we can place you together. If you're coming on your own, we will pair you with another solo traveller. The bunk-style room fits 4 guests.
What is the food like?
Casa Om runs a delicious gourmet vegetarian kitchen. Yayo, the chef onsite, never ceases to amaze us with his fresh creations, including daily fresh juices. All dishes are prepared with a healthy yogic lifestyle in mind. Gluten free and vegan meals can be prepared upon request as well. Buffet breakfast will be served every morning after yoga class. We will also have 4 vegetarian dinners at Casa Om. Most people don't get hungry enough for lunch, but if you need a little snack, you can easily walk across the street or a few blocks into town and check out some of our favorite local fresh and healthy fare. One dinner will be on your own to give you a chance to explore the local options.
What else do I need to know?
Mexico is a very cash-based society. You won't be able to use your card everywhere so bring some cash to change into Mexican Pesos. And don't worry...Emilie speaks Spanish.
We'll be sending you more info as the trip gets closer. For now, these are the essentials. We can't wait to see you in Mexico!
